INTERCOIFFURE
Tuesday May 7th 2019
I was invited to present at INTERCOIFFURE Australia one of the oldest hairdressing establishments in the world. ICD as its known was founded in 1925 in Germany by hairdressers from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Denmark and England. In 1930, France created its own Section . After the second world war, the famous hair designer GUILLAUME took the destiny of Intercoiffure in his hands. His successors at the head of the Association were John Pfeil, Alexandre de Paris and Maurice Franck.
Since the World Congress in Berlin in September 2000, the presidency has been entrusted to Klaus Peter Ochs who clearly defined his objectives:
-
Develop the number of members yet preserving the philosophy of Intercoiffure, obtain 3000 members in 50 countries
-
Intensify, under the banner of the "Foundation Guillaume", the promotion and the development of the activities of the Juniors of Intercoiffure
-
Re-enforce the links of collaboration and friendship with the hair industry
-
Take on social responsibility.
Intercoiffure, an international association standing for prestige and excellence, unites hairdressers of high standard being linked by both the love for their craft and the respect for moral values.
The 80 years of Intercoiffure tradition and its radiance worldwide testify to this in a striking manner.
It was an honour to demonstrate my craft in front of such an enthusiastic group of Hairdressers..
MANEMAN
Mens Grooming Products Promotional Shoot, MARCH 2019
When I was growing up as a young boy in the 70s I was influenced by the fashion and trends of the time, the music the cars and all that made the 70s such a great era, so when I had the opertunity to direct a Promotional shoot for a Mens Grooming Range called Mane Man I jumped at the idea.
I tried to recreate the feeling of those times gone by, even though hair in the 70s was not worn so much slicked back we still had the odd musical band that kept the vibe going, todays feel of retro cool is seen as a little radical with the ever more popular tattoos but men have come a long way since the 70s as far as personal grooming is concerned, ManeMan has 26 products and growing, from pomades to body washes, they maintain the retro style with great smells and workability. HAIR EXPO
June 9, 10, 11 2018
Queens birthday weekend for hairdressers is Hair Expo time, this year held at the Melbourne Convention Centre, with an approx. 10,000 hairdressers attending from all over Australia, Exhibitors range from small to very large companies all displaying the latest products and ideas to our wonderful industry.
Stage presentations from some of Australia leading hairdressers are held throughout the 3 days, I was honoured to present on Sunday and Monday for a small company called AMARGAN by RevOILution from the U.K.
I always enjoy getting up on stage its fun and the ability to show case my work is always a privilege.
My first stage presentation was back in 1981 when I was just an apprentice, this gave me a great foundation and I've created my own style of presentation which I believe is unique and fun to watch, its all about entertaining the audience and creating a stand out look that people get inspired from, this year was no exception...Stage work is an all out creative affair, I LOVE IT

raw
Well Monday morning Sept 4th and we where into the first day of demonstrations in front of an enthusiastic bunch of hairdressers.
The hair models where a combination of finished looks and a few pre coloured ready for the hair cut to be done in front of them.
I have an interpreter with me at all times so its always a little difficult to get into the swing of things because most of the time my knowledge comes in bursts of insights and when you have to pause every fews sentences you say it breaks the flow and I need to refocus and try and say things that correspond to my last explanation...challenging but it all works out in the end.
My skill is what they are looking at and the way the hair looks as I cut. In the end the important thing is how it looks and the image I have created...
The VIOLA' Factor
It was a whirlwind 4 days of creativity and sharing, the audience loved every minute of it. For me personally I made some new friends and had a great time, I felt like I was living my purpose to fulfill my desire to teach and express myself through my art. I know it might sound as if I give a lot but in the process I gain so much back. Hairdressing has given me the opportunity to travel and work with talented individuals, all in it for the purpose of teaching others.
This trip to Taiwan was much more than demonstrating it was connecting with like minded people and experiencing the Taiwan life. I was looked after like royalty, ate at some great restaurants, drove to the top of a mountain where some of the best tea in the world is grown and drank Johnny Walker whiskey just for something different.
All in all I became closer to Taiwan and what it has to offer.
Looking forward to future trips in 2018..

Eve
I was invited to show case my work in Taichung, Taiwan in march of 2017 by Yusing Corp. an educational company that delivers training to the hairdressing industry..I did 9 presentations in 5 days to over 5000 high school kids, year 11 and 12.
The event was put together to highlight the hairdressing industry to teenagers who may not be suited to go on and get a masters degree in a more academic field.
For me personally it was a moving experience as I delivered my craft on stage in front of all these wonderful young kids with such enthusiasm, it was a honour and a delight to share and create some wearable looks. I had so much fun and had a good laugh at the same time...I believe that this is a great idea, to showcase the hairdressing industry to teenagers who are deciding on their career path and get a taste of what it may be like to become a hairdresser. I hope to revisit Taiwan in the near future to do this again and see what progress some of my new young fans have made...Thank you to Jackson Cheng from Yusing Corp for this amazing opportunity.

Our Amazing Model EVE
When Eve came in to see me at the salon she had turquoise coloured hair, I immediately new that Eve was open to other creative possibilities.
When I asked Eve if she wanted to be a model for me her eyes lit up and her beautiful smile came alive.
We bleached Eves hair then added the red panels for a strong contrast to create something unique like the young lady she is.
The inspiration came to me after I saw a sunset on the horizon one evening, it was so red that it struck me with such awe and beauty that it reminded me to follow my dreams with fierce intensity and passion.
I love my Art and love it even more when my model has complete trust in my ability. Eve will be a permanent face on my website so lookout more to come...
Id also like to thanks Susan Walstab for Make-Up and Liz Barns for the Photos..

Wai Wai....
Our beautiful model, I wanted to show how a transformation can have such an effect on someones appearance, Noted it was a wig and a pretty drastic make over but this is what we are best at...I love to transform peoples appearances to take them beyond their comfort zone...and perhaps see themselves as they would not have imagined themselves..Thinking about who you are and then imagining who you could be is the essence of change and takes courage.
Although this was purely a creative photo shoot, I wanted to create a look that totally changed Wai Wai's appearance and create a strong yet soft look that portrays beauty and strength of character through an image that attracts compliments....
